CV Kathrin Lemke

Born in Heidelberg in the 70s, first musical socialisation by Songs of the Spanish Civil War, Vader Abraham and the Smurfs, Schingis Khan and ABBA.
Piano lessons with reprehensions, saxophone lessons without reprehensions. School choir, school orchestra, school big band. Further musical socialisation by New German Wave (first role models Nena and Jennifer Beals), 80s pop, later Ramones-Dead Kennedys period. Stumbles upon jazz by accident someday.
Final school-examinations, studies, diploma. Moves to Berlin. Founds JazzXclamation. Produces four cds with this band. Numerous concerts all over the Federal Republic, also in Canada, Bolivia, and Slovenia.
Wins a scholarship from the Berliner Senat to study in New York City for 2 months.
Kathrin Lemke works as a musician, bandleader and composer. She also teaches saxophone and flute.
She just received a grant for her new band „Heliocentric Counterblast - A Tribute To Sun Ra“ by the Berliner Senat.
